Recently, the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) of EU has sent 16 validated notifications about disqualified FCM (food contact materials) products through the system, 11 cases of which originated from China, 2 cases from the United States, 1 case from Spain, 1 case from Belgium, 1 case from Turkey. The main reasons for violations were products with plant fibers (2 cases), migration of primary aromatic amines above limits (4 cases), migration of heavy metals above limits (4 cases), migration of formaldehyde above limits (2 cases), migration of phthalates above limits (1 case), quality defect (1 case).
