Regulation Updates for December:
1. Reminder on the CTI September 2023 Newsletter: Singapore IMDA has stopped accepting new registrations and renewals of 3G-only mobile phones and non-VoLTE capable smartphones since November 1, 2023.
2. The Bhutan Authority BICMA released announcement that Bhutan Telecom Limited (BTL) is currently planning to shutdown 3G base station in its network, and the timeline is not determined yet.
3. India Authority DPIIT released Official Gazette about Self- Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2023, making ISI certification mandatory six months from the date of publication. The applicable standard is IS 1475 (Part 1): 2001.
4. The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) updated its Equipment Standardization and Certification Framework. The certificate validity is now 5 years instead of permanent.
5. The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) published new frequency policy 2080, which added the frequency band 5.470–5.650GHz, before only 5.150-5.350GHz and 5.725–5.825GHz can be used. Also, Ultra Wide Band (UWB) is now permitted in the 6.0-8.5GHz frequency band for SRD applications, 24.25-27.50GHz frequency band has been allocated for 5G services, and 865-868MHz band allocated for IoT/M2M operating in a non-cellular mode.
